The first pick by the Saints is a good one! Akiem Hicks out of Regina is potential sleeper. He was originally signed by LSU but had to go to Community College because he didn’t qualify. Hopefully, he’ll get motivated going against big time talent again - though he did have issues listening to coaches at the East-West Shrine Game
I find myself not being as enthusiastic about this upcoming NFL draft. Part of it is because the Saints and Falcons don’t have a first round pick. The other part is that there is no uncertainty about the first and second overall picks - Andrew Luck and Robert Griffith III will be the first players taken.
With the new format of the draft, a three day event in Primetime, there is no reason for me to tune. There is no draft party that I want attend or debate to keep me up all night. By the time the New Orleans Saints pick in the 3rd round, there is no telling who will be available.
Still, this is a very important draft for both the Saints and Falcons because they need to replenish several key positions that they did not cover in Free Agency. So, while I am interested in the overall results of the draft, my interest in the first two rounds has been severely diminished.
